Lynx, Alfresco, Wolf, Viking, and DCS island grills use 120-volt hot-surface or spark modules — not a Spirit AA tray. Diagnose GFCI, transformer, and glow-plug gap before you order a ceramic.

A dead click on a cart is two AAs. A dead start on a Lynx Professional, Alfresco ALXE, Wolf OG, or Viking VQGI is often the island GFCI, a transformer under the chassis, or a hot-surface element that no longer glows. Unplug or kill the GFCI before you open the box.

Diagnose

  1. Do the hood lights work? If no, test the GFCI and the receptacle before you buy a ceramic.
  2. Listen: glow systems are quiet; spark systems tick. A silent Lynx with live 120 V is often the module or the element, not a $4 battery.
  3. Lid open, gas off. On hot-surface years you should see the element glow after a second. No glow, live voltage at the module → element or harness.
  4. Spark years: watch the ceramic. No snap → lead, ceramic, or module. Snap, no fire → gas (orifice, valve, or NG leak-check).
  5. Photograph the chassis plate. Search BBQGuys (primary) and Amazon for brand plus that string plus igniter or transformer. We do not invent SKUs.
