Char-Broil carts share a pattern: stamped firebox, heat plates, and an igniter that is either a piezo button or a small AA module feeding ceramics. The lid badge says Performance or Commercial. The parts care about the full model string on the rear plate (often 46-series or GP-series). Photograph that plate before you search.

Lid open, knobs off.

Safety

Procedure

  1. Tank off. Remove grates and heat plates. Photograph the electrode clip.
  2. Pull the lead at the module. Follow it so you do not order a 24-inch wire when you needed 12.
  3. Unclip the ceramic. Stamped clips bend; bend them back only enough to release. A clip rusted off the rail needs a new electrode and a mount plan. Zip-tying a ceramic to a heat plate is not a plan.
  4. Fit the new electrode so the tip is a short jump to the burner or factory tab. Gap about a nickel. A “universal” electrode still has to hit that gap.
  5. Seat the connector. Route away from the lid and the grease hole.
  6. Fresh batteries if applicable. Tank on. Lid open. Snap, then left knob.
