Every LP grill has an excess-flow limiter in the regulator. A sudden rush of gas — tank spun open, or a knob already on — seats it to a trickle. The trickle looks like dead burners. The reset is free and should be first whenever all burners are weak after a tank event.

Safety
- Outdoors. No smoking.
- Soap and water only. Never a flame at the fitting.
- If you smell gas after a reconnect, shut the tank and stop.
- Natural-gas grills do not use this LP coupling. Do not put an LP regulator on a hard-piped NG unit.
Reset
- All knobs OFF, including side burners and infrared sears. Feel each knob.
- Shut the tank valve fully.
- Unscrew the QCC1 coupling from the tank. A short hiss of trapped pressure is normal. A continuous hiss is not — stop.
- Wait 30–60 seconds so the excess-flow seat can relax.
- Thread the coupling on straight, hand-tight, until it stops. Tools often damage the collar.
- Open the tank slowly. A quarter turn over several seconds, then fully open. Fast-open retrips the seat.
- Wet the joint with soapy water. Growing bubbles are a leak. Shut the tank. Reseat or try another tank. Do not light a leaking joint.
- Lid open. Light one burner first, high. Wait 30–60 seconds to fill the hose. Then open the others. You want full-length flames, mostly blue.
Still weak?
- Try a second tank. Exchange tanks are sometimes empty, have a bad O-ring, or will not open fully.
- If two tanks give the same trickle, the regulator or hose is the part: water in the diaphragm, a kink under the cart, cracked housing, chewed hose.
- Search Amazon or BBQGuys for your brand plus regulator hose. Match the grill-end fitting. We do not invent a hose ASIN.
- A regulator that has been in a grease fire is scrap. So is a hose with visible cracks.
What a reset will not fix
- One burner dead: tube, orifice, or valve.
- Yellow section: ports.
- Click, no light, with a strong match-light flame: igniter.
- Cold grill, tank feels light: you are out of propane.
Habits that prevent the ticket
- Knobs off, then tank on slowly, then one burner, then the rest.
- Never open the tank with a knob already on.
- Do not store the hose kinked in a slammed cabinet door.
- If you reset weekly, soap the whole hose in sections and look for bubbles. A leak you cannot find is a reason to replace the hose-and-regulator as a unit or to stop using the grill.
