Replace Weber Genesis burner tubes

Reseat Genesis tubes on the orifices, match generation (original versus Genesis II / GS4), and leak-check so a wide firebox does not hide a flashback.

Clean versus clogged burner ports Left tube shows even open ports and a blue flame sketch. Right tube shows grease-clogged ports and a yellow uneven flame. BURNER TUBE · PORTS CLEAN Even blue cones. Every port open. CLOGGED Grease in the holes. Yellow, lift, dead spots. Ream with a bit smaller than the port. Do not drill oversized. Brass brush the row. Keep liquid out of the venturi / inlet. If the tube wall is lace under the ports, replace the set — do not patch holes.

Genesis tubes are longer than Spirit tubes. Failure modes: rust-through on the port row from failed flavorizers, and inlets that no longer swallow the orifice. Buying a Spirit kit because it said Weber, or mixing original Genesis tubes onto a Genesis II valve train, is the usual mistake.

Procedure

  1. Photograph tubes, electrode, crossover, and — on E-335 — the sear burner so you do not treat it like a main tube.
  2. Grates and flavorizer bars out. If the bars are lace, replace them in the same session. See Genesis flavorizer bars.
  3. Disconnect electrodes that block a tube.
  4. Rear retainers off. Lift the back, slide off the orifice. Three mains on E-310; do not force a sear tube off a different fitting.
  5. Inspect orifices: round, open, unbent. Inspect old tubes against the sky. Extra holes are scrap.
  6. Dry-fit each new tube. Inlet fully on brass, rear hole on the retainer. A tube that comes up short is the wrong kit — do not slot the bracket.
  7. Tighten retainers after all mains are seated. Refit crossover across every main tube. Refit electrodes and gaps.
  8. Bars centered. Tank on. Soap the tank joint. Lid open, light each main, then the sear if present. Even blue rows. A jet at the front is a missed orifice.
